India from Space: “Saare Jahan Se Achha” – A Journey from Rakesh Sharma to Chandrayaan 3
On April 2, 1984, a historic conversation between Indira Gandhi and Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma echoed the sentiments of every Indian: “Upar se Bharat kaise dikhta hai? Saare Jahan se Achha.” For many, this was the defining space moment of their generation. Fast forward to today, and India’s space ambitions have soared even higher with Chandrayaan 3.
Science, much like sport, is a continuum. It’s a relay where the baton of knowledge, ambition, and achievement is passed from one generation to the next. As we stand on the cusp of another monumental achievement with Chandrayaan 3’s moon landing, it’s essential to remember and honor the trailblazers. The architects of India’s space program, over the decades, have laid the foundation for such groundbreaking moments.
From the pioneering efforts of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai to the bravery of Rakesh Sharma, and now to the cutting-edge technology behind Chandrayaan 3, India’s journey in space exploration has been nothing short of stellar. It’s a testament to the dedication, vision, and relentless pursuit of excellence by countless men and women at ISRO and beyond.
So, as we gear up to celebrate this significant milestone, let’s salute the indomitable spirit of all those remarkable individuals who have made India’s space dreams a reality. Their legacy shines bright, much like the stars they’ve reached for. 🌟🇮🇳 #MoonLanding

NDA Vs ‘I.N.D.I.A.’ – Who Is Ahead? || Straight Bat with Rajdeep || 2024 Elections
This week, during his Independence Day speech, prime minister Narendra Modi promised to return to Red Fort in 2024 to deliver another Independence Day address. Mr Modi was trying to send the messsge that general elections 2024 for him was a ‘done deal’ and he was super confident of winning a third consecutive term. So, here is the question to be answered on Straight Bat: is Pm Modi’s confidence justified or is he being arrogant when he boasts of another big electoral win. Beyond the rhetoric, what is the reality: is a Modi led NDA set for another win or can the opposition ‘INDIA’ alliance pull off an upset? In my view, a general election is the sum of key state battles: so let me give you a state by state analysis of the key states that will decide 2024 and then give you the most likely scenario

The bugle for the 2024 general elections has been sounded. The no-confidence motion might have been won, expectedly, by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government but the competing narratives for the big battle that lies ahead have been set. This no-confidence motion was never about numbers in the first instance; it was about the perception game, something more intangible but often decisive in deciding who wins the hearts and minds of voters. So here is the critical question: who now has the momentum going into the 2024 battle? Here are ten key takeaways from the bruising parliament confrontation.

Today, on the straight bat a simple question that doesn’t have quite so simple an answer: why is it that the communal temperature rises in the country before a big election year? This past week has seen a horrific hate crime in a train where 3 passengers, all muslims, were killed by a railway protection force guard who also shot his senior. This week has also seen gruesome violence in Nuh and Gurugram in Haryana where at least 6 people have died, 4 of them Hindus, one a Sikh home guard, the other an Imam of an under construction mosque. We’ll come to Haryana in a bit but the fact is this isn’t the first case of mass violence in the last few months.

Don’t cry for me Manipur
I am sorry Manipur., that it took a horrific video of May 4th for the country to wake up to the unfolding tragedy in your beautiful state 77 days later
I am sorry Manipur.. that when a gang rape takes place in the national capital, the entire country comes on the street to protest.. when it happens in a distant hill district, it takes 77 days for it to shake our conscience
I am sorry Manipur.. in Delhi, the rape victim will be called Nirbhaya.. become a symbol of courage .. will lead to change in laws, candlelight marches, a national movement. I wonder Will anyone give a name to thr victims of the violence in Manipur?
I am sorry Manipur,, the north east still suffers from the tyranny of distance,, too far from delhi at times to register on the mind..
I am sorry Manipur., for weeks, the prime minister didn’t make Manipur ki baat a priority.. an election in Karnataka, foreign trips to the US and France.. so much else took precedence than calling for an end to violence that has taken 140 lives
Battle For 2024 Elections: Hawa Badal Rahi Hai || Straight Bat with Rajdeep
The one thing that can be safely said about Indian politics is that it is never static. If a week is a long time in British politics, in India sometimes even 24 hours can be enough. With all eyes on the battle for 2024, we are seeing almost weekly, if not daily, momentum shifts.
