The focus of this debate is on the Facebook faceoff between Congress and BJP over its alleged biased stance on hate speech content. It all started after the Wall Street Journal published an article alleging that the social media giant had disregarded its own hate speech policy and let communal content be posted to avoid marring its relationship with the Indian government.
And soon, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Facebook of favoritism in his tweet claiming that BJP and the RSS control Facebook and WhatsApp in India and used them for spreading fake news and hatred.
So, we raise the following questions:
Hate speech: Is Facebook soft on BJP?
Did Facebook compromise crackdown on hate speech?
Should parliamentary panel look into the charges?
