Thousands of mourners lined the streets of central Tokyo to bid farewell to former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated on Friday while campaigning. His hearse was driven past political landmarks after a private funeral. The incident has rattled Japan and prompted an outpouring of international condemnation and grief. The Japanese government said it has received 1,700 letters of condolences from 259 countries and regions. A public memorial for the late leader is expected to be held at a later date.
